Crooked Lust

Ask me anything.   Keep it classy.

Oh noes! I’m sorry to hear that. I hope you feel better soon.

Thank you! I really hope it doesn’t carry over into tomorrow. I hate these attacks so much. It’s like a whole day wasted. I can’t function.

Weekend Update Uno: I’m alive! Well, kind of.

My allergies are notably bad again, so bad that I nearly forgot where I was this morning. As I was enjoying brunch with my dad and his fiancée, they mentioned something about needing a new minister (for their wedding this December… which I desperately need a date for). I told them I knew someone who could do weddings and said that he lived in Ojai, not realizing I was visiting nearly 6 hours away. Oy vey.

This weekend was quite lovely, though. I’ve enjoyed many Fridays off, though there was something very leisurely about this weekend that I really liked. I was fortunate enough to get out of work an hour early on Thursday ideally so that I could make performance practice scheduled before the usual swing activities at the Golden China. My leg was still pretty dinged up from the lesson earlier in the week, though, and my partner wasn’t able to make the practice so I took advantage of the extra time I had to primp, eat a decent dinner, and stroll over to the restaurant to guard the door later in the night.

I had spent most of Thursday stretching out my leg, icing the muscle, slappin’ on heating pads, massaging it, etc. It did manage to loosen up a bit and I was able to enjoy a few hours of dancing, though I had to warn everyone when they asked me to dance and I always winced when someone got too excited and pulled me in for a lindy. That wasn’t easy on my leg. Even doing some Charleston moves were difficult. I’d kind of grip onto my partners a little tighter when they led into a side-by-side Charleston move.

Still, I’m glad I did get to dance most of the night and ended up staying until the end. A few of us that often linger decided to grab a bite at Denny’s across the way. Only my second time visiting the fine establishment—the first was a very strange date with a coworker who later told me he had a girlfriend. Yup. It was nice, though. I like being able to catch up with dancers afterwards as it can be hard to really talk during a dance—everyone’s pulling someone away or needs drinks, etc.

When I woke up Friday, though, my leg was a wreck. I had two other dances lined up for the weekend, but the more I thought about it (and my impending 6-hour drive using said leg) the better I thought it would be to rest it and make sure I’m fit and ready for the performance later this week. I’m really bummed as I missed out on seeing quite a few tumblr hoppers, but I hope another chance comes up to see them all soon.

I think what made the weekend seem so leisurely is that I didn’t rush to get to the Bay. I got to enjoy my Thursday night as I usually do and even got to sleep in a bit on Friday before driving up north. I made it in time to see my youngest sister graduate high school and bake in the heat. I don’t understand why teachers choose a high school graduation as their platform to preach their political standings. It really throws me. Now is no the time to talk about a liberal agenda to an entire field predominately of conservatives (it’s the suburbs—let’s get real).

A similar speech was given at my other younger sister’s graduation. And they always seem to go on too long. It’s just embarrassing. You aren’t accepting a nobel peace prize. You’re at a shitty high school in a rich town that won’t buy the school a new sound system. Let’s just get to the name calling of over 600 people please, so I can make a dinner reservation at an upscale restaurant in an hour and a half. (Peasant and the Pear—the salmon is to die for and the cocktails are exquisite.)

So I was supposed to go to this today. I’ve been looking forward to it all month. How amazing does that sound, right? On an old movie set. All these amazing musicians playing on the porches of these stage houses.
But noooooo. I had to wake up this morning and decide that I wanted to have difficulty breathing and a nose that would eventually be rubbed raw because it won’t stop running and, you know, general throat pain. I fought through it most of the morning and got ready. I got in my car and drove to the freeway only to finally give in and turn around. There’s no way I would’ve been able to survive all the dust and dirt and heat at that ranch today.
I have to get back on shots or get a stronger med or something. I’m so tired of this shit literally ruining a whole day.

HOW DOES TAKING 24-HOUR ALLERGY RELIEF, TWO DOSES OF NASAL DECONGESTANT, TYLENOL, AND HALF A DOSE OF DAYQUIL IN A SPAN OF EIGHT HOURS NOT WORK EVEN A LITTLE ITTY BITTY BIT?

HOW.

I IMPLORE YOU.

I haven’t suffered from allergies this bad since I was 7 and that was only because I wasn’t on any prescriptions or getting shots and I had two dogs and a cat and my mom would clean the whole house every Saturday. I was literally in bed with boxes of Kleenex every weekend.

So I really don’t understand this because I took all of the medicine and don’t have any pets. And it’s not like I haven’t lived down here in the spring. Unless Ventura is really THAT much different than Camarillo, which it isn’t… really. SO WHAT THE FUCK.

I am not optimistic for tomorrow.

#allergies  #I WANT TO CUT OFF MY NOSE  #I WANT IT TO END  #I HATE EVERYTHING

I actually left work because my allergies were THAT bad.
And I am now sitting in bed and watching Star Trek: TOS.

I have taken 24-hour allergy relief, two doses of nasal decongestant, tylenol, and half a dose of Dayquil. If this shit doesn’t stop and I have to miss the swing lesson tonight, I will be all kinds of miserable.
